Dark Horse Manga announced at Anime NYC on Friday that it will release the Vampire Hunter D: Fortress of Blood comic on December 16 and the English translation of Vampire Hunter D: Rose Princess manga in March 2027.

The Vampire Hunter D franchise, created by Hideyuki Kikuchi and illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano, has previously been adapted into novels, anime, and films.

The comic will be a four‑issue series written by Chris Condon and illustrated by Filipe Andrade, with Jordie Bellaire handling colors and Frank Cvetkovic providing lettering. The first issue will cost US$4.99.

Dark Horse said the story follows a vampire lord marching on human settlements while the half‑human hunter D intervenes.

Kikuchi said he is honored to see the series adapted for American comic books and thanked Dark Horse editor Michael Gombos, Judy Khuu, Andrade, and Condon.

The English translation of Rose Princess, a manga adaptation of the ninth novel by Saiko Takaki, will be released in March 2027; Takaki’s manga originally began in Asahi Shimbun’s Sonoroma+ website in July 2024 and has been collected in eight volumes.

In spring 2027 Dark Horse will also release Gou Tanabe’s manga adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, which follows a physician investigating his ancestor’s occult experiments.

Tanabe’s previous Lovecraft adaptations have been recognized at Angoulême and Bram Stoker Awards.

The releases are intended to broaden the franchise’s reach beyond Japan and the United States.
