MANTRA Chain stayed halted on Aug.
MANTRA Chain stayed halted on Aug. 21 after the development team discovered an exploit in an upstream dependency. The mainnet was paused, preventing transactions, transfers, staking and other on‑chain activity. The incident record indicates that endpoints and transactions were frozen while the root cause was reviewed. MANTRA said it was tracking fund movements and coordinating with exchange partners while assessing the full scope of the breach.
The team released patched software version v8.4.0 that addresses the vulnerability. The update is being tested on the DuKong testnet, which serves as the gate before any mainnet upgrade. Validators are required to keep their nodes offline until a coordinated restart is announced, because the restart must be executed by the broader validator set.
MANTRA outlined a three‑step restart plan: (1) complete testing of the patched release, (2) obtain validator readiness, and (3) execute a coordinated upgrade. The restart is targeted for later on Aug. 21, pending successful testing. Users were told no action is required while the chain remains offline. The impact on asset holdings has not been confirmed.
