Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most anticipated games in recent years, and Rockstar plans to release an extended preview on Netflix on August 27. The game’s November launch has generated significant interest among players.
User @GTAGolden_ shared the file on social media without specifying its source, and another user, @Aidas29506493, said they performed reverse engineering and found the file to be fake, containing a 50KB virus. Internet sleuths reported that the ISO consists largely of empty zero data, with the small virus embedded, and that its bytecode includes commands to whitelist the entire C: drive in Windows Defender and to terminate security software.
A leaker known as Cyberleek has posted gameplay clips and map information, stating that Rockstar’s decision to pre‑sell digital copies makes the game anti‑gamer. They have threatened to continue releasing snippets until Rockstar issues a public apology.
Take‑Two Interactive has requested device IDs from members of three Discord servers in an effort to identify the leaker and curb the leaks, though the company has not yet confirmed the individual’s identity.
Experts advise fans to wait for the official November release and to avoid downloading unverified files, as the fake ISO may be used to distribute malware.
