Iran’s top security official warned that any country supporting new U.S. sanctions against Tehran would be considered an act of war, while President Masoud Pezeshkian said a June memorandum with the United States offered the best path out of the conflict.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to announce the new measures on Monday after the United States declared it would impose an unprecedented level of economic pressure on Iran as part of a broader strategy to increase isolation of the Islamic Republic.

Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, posted a warning on X, stating that support for the sanctions by another country would be regarded as an act of war and that Iran would respond by striking other Persian Gulf oil‑shipping routes, not only the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Navy’s multinational coalition reported no confirmed attacks on the Strait of Hormuz in the previous 48 hours, though shipping traffic remained reduced and the coalition said 70 commercial vessels had been redirected and three disabled as a result of its blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran’s newly created Persian Gulf Strait Authority, sanctioned by the United States, released a list of dozens of vessels it says have violated transit arrangements and will face future restrictions such as fines or seizure. Iran and Oman are discussing joint management of the waterway, which may involve fees for ships.

Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir will travel to Tehran on Monday as part of Islamabad’s effort to mediate between the United States and Iran and encourage a return to negotiations, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry officials.

In unrelated developments, Iran executed Majid Adineh, convicted of espionage and ties to hostile groups, following protests earlier this year. A 16‑year‑old Israeli settler was arrested for beating a 61‑year‑old Palestinian amputee in the West Bank, and Israeli forces killed a 14‑year‑old Palestinian in Nablus. An Israeli airstrike in central Gaza killed a Hamas commander and wounded several civilians.

The 60‑day diplomatic window opened by the June memorandum expired without a compromise, leaving the path to a negotiated settlement uncertain.
