Bitcoin traded in a narrow band around $86,000 on Tuesday, even as U.S. equities posted modest gains that pushed the Nasdaq and S&P 500 to fresh record closes. The S&P 500 edged up 0.6% to 7,821, marking its first all-time high in two months, while the Nasdaq rose 0.5% to a new peak. Tech and healthcare sectors led the rally, with energy stocks slipping alongside a decline in oil prices. The Mag 7 group of large technology firms showed broad strength, though Meta Platforms slipped slightly. Meanwhile, consumer-facing stocks and utilities gained ground as interest rates edged lower.

Cryptocurrency prices remained largely flat over the past 24 hours, with Bitcoin, Ether, XRP and Solana showing minimal movement. Analysts noted that Bitcoin’s recent price action mirrors its pattern from mid‑September, when it traded in the low‑ to mid‑$60,000 range before climbing to its current level near $85,500. Some observers compare the current consolidation to the summer‑time range in the $60,000s, suggesting that a decisive breakout could still be pending.

Prediction‑market platform Kalshi announced its entry into U.S. equity markets by launching a stock‑index perpetual future that tracks the S&P 500 without an expiration date. The product allows traders to bet on market direction without having to roll positions into new contracts, a feature that differentiates it from traditional futures. Kalshi, regulated by the CFTC, previously introduced perpetual futures tied to cryptocurrencies in May.

The Winklevoss twins filed a registration statement with the SEC for a spot Zcash exchange‑traded fund that would hold Zcash directly and trade on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK. Gemini, the exchange they founded, would serve as custodian for the fund. The filing represents the latest effort by the brothers to bring a regulated crypto‑linked product to traditional markets.

Morgan Stanley analysts argued that Wall Street firms are well positioned to capture much of the value generated by crypto’s integration into finance. They contend that established institutions can adopt blockchain technology while retaining economic value because they control distribution channels, client relationships and regulated infrastructure. The bank highlighted the potential for 24/7 tokenized securities to drive demand for stablecoins and tokenized funds, which could reshape competition among blockchains. Ethereum and Solana currently host large ecosystems, but institutional adoption might favor networks that provide privacy, identity controls and regulatory compliance, such as the Canton network.

Hut 8 shares rose after the company opened its River Bend mining facility in Louisiana to analysts and investors. StoneX analyst Mark Palmer praised the project for its community partnership approach and its “speed to power” delivery to client Anthropic. Palmer maintained a buy rating and a $195 price target, implying more than 100% upside from the current share price.

Marvell Technology’s stock jumped 8% following an upbeat revenue outlook. The chipmaker now projects annual revenue of $70 billion to $90 billion by fiscal 2031 and raised its fiscal 2028 revenue forecast to $20 billion. The stock trades about 12% below its all‑time high after a steep decline earlier in the year.

Oil markets slipped, with West Texas Intermediate crude falling 2.3% to $87.36 per barrel, its lowest level since late August. The decline pressured energy stocks and contributed to a modest dip in the broader market. Treasury yields eased, with the 10‑year U.S. Treasury slipping to 5.27%, while the dollar index fell below 102.

In Europe, the yield spread between French 10‑year OATs and German Bunds narrowed to 125 basis points, down more than 10 points from a recent peak. French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen proposed a fiscal plan that would reduce the country’s deficit to 3.7% of GDP next year and 2.2% by 2032, levels well below current targets. Analysts cautioned that such ambitions would require legislative approval and may be difficult to achieve.

Overall, the market environment showed risk assets edging higher while crypto markets remained range‑bound, awaiting a catalyst that could break the current price consolidation.
