Bitcoin dipped to $84,200 on October 7, 2026, before recovering slightly to trade near $84,300, according to CoinDesk data. The move kept the cryptocurrency within its established $83,000-to-$87,000 range, a band that has persisted for two weeks and underpinned a months-long bullish pattern.
Analysts highlighted $83,000 as a critical floor. A sustained breach below that level, particularly a drop toward $82,000 to $83,000, would suggest the September breakout has collapsed and could trigger a retreat toward $80,000 to $81,500. Conversely, holding the support would indicate sellers lack the power to push prices back into the prior trading band.
Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Indian exchange Giottus, told CoinDesk the stair-step structure remains intact. Since July, Bitcoin has formed a series of higher trading ranges, each climb followed by sideways consolidation. The current range, established after breaking above $81,500, represents the latest step in that pattern.
Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, noted support is effectively near $84,000, and a clear break below it would open the path to $80,000. The October 7 decline did not invalidate the broader trend, but the resilience of the $83,000 level will determine whether the staircase continues or stalls.
