Acer's newly released Googlebook 14 has drawn reports of a persistent boot issue affecting users shortly after initial setup. Multiple owners described the device becoming trapped in a cycle between the Acer logo and an "Updating" screen, with one individual noting the loop persisted for approximately one hour without completing installation. The problem appears concentrated on this specific model, which is the most affordable option among five Googlebook variants launched on October 4 and is the only convertible design in the series. At least four users shared similar experiences on Reddit, all occurring after applying a system update. One affected user stated the issue emerged during first-time configuration when linking an Android phone to the laptop, triggering an automatic update prompt that stalled mid-process. Recovery attempts also failed; the device could not execute internet recovery due to missing USB recovery files, leaving users unable to break the reboot sequence. Some owners have opted to return the units and switch to alternative brands. A Google employee suggested troubleshooting steps involving disconnecting peripherals, using a specific key combination to access advanced boot options, and attempting to unlock and re-lock the bootloader, but the user reported these measures did not resolve the cycle. Android Authority reached out to Acer for comment, though no public response has been issued.
