The One Piece franchise revealed on Monday that Kentaro Yabuki, known for his work on To Love-Ru, will create an illustration of Nami for the upcoming One Piece Card Game booster set. The artwork will appear in the "One Piece Heroines Edition vol.2 [EB-05]" set, scheduled for release on October 31. The card will be issued in two distinct versions.
The illustration was shared through official One Piece social media channels, which posted a brief promotional clip on Monday. This collaboration marks Yabuki's contribution to the game's second extra booster series, continuing its history of featuring artwork by established artists.
The One Piece Card Game has previously partnered with Yoshitaka Amano, renowned for his illustrations in the Final Fantasy series, to design special cards for characters Loki and Saint Figarland Shamrock in the forthcoming "-The Dominance of God-" booster set, set for release in November. This follows a pattern of cross-promotional artwork within the game.
Eiichiro Oda has authored the One Piece manga since 1997, and Shueisha indicated in 2020 that the narrative was approaching its conclusion. Toei Animation began adapting the manga for television in 1999 and announced in 2025 that future episodes would be limited to a maximum of 26 per year. The new Nami card is connected to the anime adaptation of the One Piece: Heroines light novel series, which premiered in July. Netflix launched a live-action series in 2023 and plans to stream an anime remake by Wit Studio beginning in February.
Yabuki's background includes work on the To Love-Ru manga, which was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2006 to 2009. A follow-up series, To LOVEru DARKNESS, appeared in Jump SQ. between 2010 and 2017. Anime adaptations of both series aired in 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2014, with original video animations released alongside select Japanese editions.
