Pokémon Go will host a Zorua Community Day on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. local time. The event focuses on the original Unovan Zorua, excluding the Hisuian variant. During the three‑hour window, the Pokémon appears in large numbers, with a higher likelihood of spawning in its shiny form.
Shiny rates on Community Days have historically been about one in 24, according to research from the now‑defunct Silph Road. Players can increase their chances by using an Incense and tapping each Zorua that appears, keeping only those that are shiny. Caught Zorua will initially mimic the player’s chosen buddy Pokémon and then transform back into Zorua once captured.
If a player evolves Zorua into Zoroark between 2 and 9 p.m. local time, the resulting Zoroark learns the fast move Sucker Punch. Evolution outside this window may still be possible during a December Community Day, or via an Elite TM. In both PvE and PvP contexts, Zoroark’s performance is considered modest; players may equip it with Sucker Punch and Foul Play but should not expect strong results in raids or competitive play.
Event bonuses include tripled experience points for catches, doubled candy rewards, and a doubled chance for level‑31+ trainers to receive XL candy. Incense duration is extended to three hours, and Lure Modules last one hour. Special Zorua‑themed photobombs appear when taking snapshots, and an additional special trade is permitted. The Stardust cost for trades is halved during the event.
Players are encouraged to activate a Lucky Egg and Incense simultaneously to maximize catches. Those who can Mega Evolve certain Pokémon—such as Gyarados, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Sableye, Sharpedo, Absol, Greninja, or Malamar—will earn extra Zorua candy per catch. For those targeting excellent throws for Masterwork Research or other high‑level tasks, setting a buddy with a large catch ring—examples include Snorlax, Wailmer, or Gourgeist—may improve success rates.
A Zorua set as a buddy eliminates the “Oh?” animation, speeding up catches. After the Community Day concludes, players can still encounter shiny Zorua or those with special backgrounds from Lure Modules placed during the event, which retain the heightened shiny rate.
The event is part of a broader series of bonuses that Scopely Explore has run for the past year, extending the Lure Module Bonus through the 2‑9 p.m. window.
