Microsoft announced the formation of a new Xbox XP division aimed at broadening the company's presence in film, television, merchandise and immersive experiences. The division will be led by Kayleen Walters, formerly president of Mojang, and will operate under four sub‑units: Xbox Pictures, which will develop movies and series based on Xbox franchises; Xbox Products, which will produce merchandise that celebrates Xbox fandom; Xbox Places, which will organize live events and attractions such as theme parks; and Xbox Partnerships, which will collaborate with creators, brands and other communities. The move follows a series of entertainment projects already associated with Xbox, including the Minecraft film, a Halo television series and various branded collaborations. Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said the restructuring consolidates capabilities that previously existed across separate teams and aligns them around a single goal: extending the reach of Xbox franchises, deepening connections with existing fans and attracting new audiences worldwide. The company has not disclosed specific timelines or financial commitments for the new division.
