Chainalysis reported that net Bitcoin inflows into the United States are expected to become positive in 2026, marking the first such period since 2022. Large transfers exceeding $10 million contributed 53,200 BTC to net arrivals during the 12‑month reporting window ending June 2026, while transfers below $10,000 remained net outbound. The overall U.S. crypto economy was valued at $2.78 trillion, a 2.2% decline from the prior reporting period. Institutional buying was identified as the primary driver of the shift, with larger transactions reflecting purchases by investors and firms, whereas smaller transfers were dominated by retail sales. The study also noted that U.S. Bitcoin activity has captured a growing share of global Bitcoin usage since the launch of spot Bitcoin exchange‑traded funds in January 2024. Dollar‑denominated stablecoins have expanded overseas, serving as savings tools, peer‑to‑peer payment mechanisms and cross‑border business settlement channels where traditional banking access is limited. The report highlighted that stablecoins represent a smaller share of domestic crypto activity compared with other regions, a gap that has widened over successive periods. Regulatory developments included the GENIUS Act signed in 2025, which establishes a federal framework for payment stablecoins requiring reserve backing and periodic disclosures. The Federal Reserve’s proposed rules outline reserve composition, capital requirements and risk‑management standards for supervised issuers, as well as procedures for bank applications and public comment. Meanwhile, fund‑flow data showed renewed inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, with BlackRock’s IBIT receiving $454 million, ARK Invest and 21Shares’ ARKB $138 million, and Fidelity’s FBTC $74 million in a single day in September 2024. Combined net assets across these products reached $103.34 billion, equivalent to 6.32% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization at the time. The article also referenced earlier inflows and withdrawals in August and September 2024, including $236 million withdrawn on September 1 and $101 million returned the following day, as well as additions of 232.5 BTC to Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin Trust. Overall, the analysis indicated a gradual re‑entry of institutional capital into Bitcoin while stablecoin usage continues to differ between domestic and international markets.
