IO Interactive has confirmed that the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light will launch on March 18, 2027, more than two years after its initial release window was pushed back from May 2026. Preorders for the game on Switch 2 include a unique item: a replica of the oversized tie worn by Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in the 1995 film GoldenEye. The tie is part of the GoldenEye Suit outfit, which also features Brosnan's in-game wardrobe from the movie. Brosnan's portrayal of Bond in GoldenEye remains culturally significant, particularly for its distinctive fashion, including the exaggerated neckwear that defined 1990s spy aesthetics. The tie's exclusivity to Switch 2 preorders stems from the franchise's long-standing relationship with Nintendo, rooted in the 1997 release of GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64, a title that helped define home console first-person shooters. First Light, developed by IO Interactive, has achieved commercial and critical success, selling over 4 million copies across platforms prior to the Switch 2 version's release. The game's development faced multiple delays, which IO attributed to a combination of technical and scheduling factors. In addition to the Switch 2 version, IO is reportedly developing a new fantasy-themed project, though recent staff reductions followed the withdrawal of Xbox publishing support. While community interest in a First Light sequel persists, IO Interactive has not announced plans for such a title.
