Apple on Monday released a release candidate of iOS 27.2 to developers for testing, marking the first time the build has been made available since the initial beta rollout a week earlier. The same version was also pushed to iPadOS 27.2. Developers can install the update through Settings > General > Software Update after enrolling in the iOS 27 developer beta program.

The build was initially intended to test new Health app features, but those functionalities have been withdrawn and will be reintroduced in a subsequent release. Instead, the update introduces expanded Siri language support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, adds profile management to the Apple TV app, enhances Call Context with anniversary alert capabilities, and provides a new icon for Apple Music. Additionally, the update includes an alternative expanded prompt for App Tracking Transparency compliance within the European Union.

Apple had previously indicated that the new Siri language capabilities would arrive in October, suggesting a public release of iOS 27.2 before month's end. With the release candidate now available, the timeline for a public launch appears imminent. Separately, Apple confirmed plans to issue an iOS 27.0.1 update next week to address a Face ID malfunction affecting certain iPhone 18 Pro devices, though no specific release date was provided.

The iPhone Handoff feature introduced in iOS 27 enables users to transfer ongoing activities between two iPhones while maintaining a single phone number across devices. T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom have begun offering the functionality, with Verizon and EE slated to follow later in the year. AT&T has not yet confirmed support for the feature.
