Two Apple Pencil models are reportedly in development for release with next‑generation iPad Pro tablets in 2027, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman said Apple is working to satisfy upcoming European Union requirements that make batteries more replaceable, leading to speculation that the new pencils could feature replaceable battery systems, though no specific details have been disclosed. The current Apple Pencil with a USB‑C port launched in November 2023 and the Apple Pencil Pro was introduced in May 2024; Apple has not announced additional design changes or features for the upcoming models. Apple plans to release 11‑inch and 13‑inch iPad Pro models in spring 2027 with internal upgrades, potentially using M6 or M7 chips, and is evaluating OLED panels that would cover 95 % of the BT.2020 color standard for future MacBook Pro, iMac and iPad Pro devices.
