According to the Florida Department of Citrus, citrus production rose across all varieties for the 2025‑2026 crop year, with orange harvests reaching 12.92 million boxes, a 5% increase over the prior year. The USDA figures also show grapefruit production at 1.35 million boxes, up 50,000 boxes, and combined tangerine and mandarin orange output at 460,000 boxes, a 15% rise. Growers have faced winter freezes and hurricane threats in recent months, and the citrus greening disease has constrained yields for about two decades. Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation that adds funding for citrus research, planting and infrastructure through the General Appropriations Act. Shepp said the increased funding supports efforts to combat greening disease and strengthens the long‑term outlook for Florida citrus. The department noted that the new investment may help sustain production gains in the coming years.
