Pasco County will allow recreational harvesting of bay scallops from the Hernando-Pasco County line to Anclote Key Lighthouse, including the Anclote River, until August 18, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The season follows openings in several Gulf Coast counties that began July 1 and runs through September 24, and it permits harvest by landing or dip net while prohibiting commercial take. The daily bag limit is two gallons of whole scallops in the shell or one pint of shucked meat per person, with a vessel limit of 10 gallons of whole scallops or four pints of shucked meat, and individuals may not exceed their personal bag limit at any time. Divers must observe a 360-degree awareness around diver-down flags, maintaining 300 feet distance in open Gulf waters and 100 feet in rivers, inlets or channels, and a Florida saltwater fishing license is required unless wading near shore; licenses are available online. The state emphasizes compliance with these regulations as the recreational season continues.
