Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested in the United States on Saturday after British prosecutors requested their extradition to face additional criminal charges. The Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew Tate faces seven counts of rape and other charges including sex trafficking and child pornography, while Tristan Tate faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The alleged offences are said to have occurred between 2010 and 2017 and involve seven alleged victims. CPS head Malcolm McHaffie said the charges followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police. US Marshals confirmed the brothers were taken into custody and a Department of Justice spokesperson said the arrests were pursuant to extradition proceedings. Their lawyer Joseph McBride stated that the brothers are innocent and described the new UK charges as a political hit intended to counter a defamation action filed in the United States. He added that they will be free once a judge reviews the facts and the Department of Justice confronts what he called an abuse of authority. The extradition request remains pending.
