US Central Command said the strikes were intended to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The attacks, carried out early Sunday, hit locations near Sirik in Hormozgan province, Qeshm Island, and a site near Shadegan in Khuzestan province. CENTCOM said the targets included coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites. Iranian news agencies reported no civilian casualties or damage to residential or commercial infrastructure. Iranian authorities said the strikes killed at least 50 people and wounded more than 500 in the past three weeks, including two girls killed in a strike on Bandar Khamir on Thursday. A state‑run agency reported the destruction of the Bonji desalination plant, which supplies water to about 10,000 people, and damage to another plant on Qeshm Island. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the United States is no longer implementing the terms of the interim nuclear deal.
