Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson announced that Jessica Ferris will lead the Office of Agricultural Water Policy, and Megan Seward will remain as assistant director. Ferris previously served as staff director, overseeing the Agricultural Regional Projects Program and strategic planning for the office. Seward continues to manage the Policy, Planning and Coordination Bureau, Budget Section and Contracts Section, with duties that include implementing agricultural Best Management Practices, water quality planning, rulemaking, legislative analysis, budgeting and procurement. Simpson said Ferris and Seward bring experience in agriculture, natural resources, environmental policy and government operations, and that their leadership will support practical, science‑based approaches to protect water resources while maintaining a strong domestic food supply. Seward previously held senior roles at Citizens Property Insurance Corp., the Northwest Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The Office of Agricultural Water Policy works with farmers, commodity organizations, water management districts, the Department of Environmental Protection and other partners to develop and implement voluntary, science‑based conservation programs aimed at improving water quality. The announcement was made amid broader political coverage that includes former President Donald Trump’s scheduled appearance in Michigan, reporting on the Kennedy Center, discussion of the SAVE Act, analysis of the Democratic Party’s future, and polling data on property tax initiatives.
