Former BioWare creative lead Mark Darrah said he does not expect EA to greenlight another Dragon Age game soon, citing the company’s structure and the long development time for recent titles. Dragon Age: Inquisition, the series’ highest‑selling entry, was followed by Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which launched in 2024 after a lengthy development cycle. Darrah told FRVR that EA’s approach to game shipping resembles a hedge fund that prioritizes financial considerations over creative risk, making a new Dragon Age project unlikely. He added that after the mixed reception of The Veilguard, he cannot identify anyone willing to propose a sequel at EA. Internal politics at EA often involve multiple stakeholders who block new pitches, and Darrah said that even if another EA studio attempted to revive the franchise, BioWare leadership would likely intervene to retain control of the IP. The future of Dragon Age remains uncertain following the critical reception of The Veilguard.
