iOS 26.4 is now available for all iPhone users.
iOS 26.4 is now available for all iPhone users. The update can be installed through Settings > General > Software Update and may be installed immediately or scheduled for overnight download. The release follows the standard iOS update cycle and adds new functionality across several Apple applications and system features. Apple Music adds a tool to locate concerts near the user and display tour dates for artists in the user's library. It also provides full-screen artwork for albums and playlists. The profile section has been redesigned for easier account and subscription management. Users can now add a single song to multiple playlists simultaneously. Offline Music Recognition is available in Control Center, allowing Shazam to identify songs without an internet connection and sync results when online. Playlist Playground, a beta feature, lets users generate playlists by entering text descriptions, with iterative refinement possible after creation. Eight new emoji approved by the Unicode Consortium were added, including Ballet Dancer, Distorted Face, Fight Cloud, Hairy Creature, Landslide, Orca, Trombone, and Treasure Chest. Ambient Music widgets for the Home Screen allow users to start playback for Chill, Productivity, Sleep, or Wellbeing moods and are offered in small and medium sizes. The Reminders app now includes a Smart List that aggregates tasks marked as urgent, building on a previous urgent designation feature. Apple Podcasts receives enhanced video podcast capabilities that let users switch between video and audio playback, with quality adjustment powered by HLS technology. Dynamic video ads are also supported. Apple Health adds an average bedtime metric for sleep tracking and restores Blood Oxygen readings to the Vitals graph. Apple reports a fix for a keyboard bug that caused characters to appear as though they were not inserted, improving Auto‑Correction accuracy. CarPlay adds support for voice‑enabled AI chatbots, allowing developers to create apps for interactions with services such as Gemini and ChatGPT. An ambient music widget can be added to CarPlay, and video functionality is planned for future rollout, pending automaker adoption. Stolen Device Protection is enabled by default, requiring Face ID authentication for certain actions when the device is away from trusted locations and introducing a secondary biometric verification delay for sensitive operations. Two Accessibility options for Liquid Glass are available: Reduce Bright Effects minimizes visual highlighting, and an updated Reduce Motion setting more reliably limits animations for users sensitive to motion. Adult members of Family Sharing groups can now use their own payment methods for purchases without relying on the family organizer. The App Store and Games apps have moved the search bar to the top of the tab, which is now integrated into the bottom navigation bar, and the Settings app now merges app and purchase history with the Updates screen, requiring two taps to access updates. iOS 26.4 includes age verification for the UK, a toggle for Audio Zoom in the Camera settings, redesigns of the Wallpaper Gallery and Apple Watch face gallery, dark‑mode backgrounds for Control Center popups, a live Content Hub for Freeform Creator Studio, iCloud settings that enable searching for Photos and Drive content on iCloud.com, a Set Charge Limit action in Shortcuts, Chinese (Taiwan) support for Live Captions, and easier access to subtitle and caption settings. The update is available immediately, and Apple invites users to share feedback on the new features.
