CD Projekt Red said it has reduced the team working on its multiplayer Witcher game, Project Sirius, by 18 developers. Nine of the affected staff members were reassigned to other CDPR projects, while nine left the company entirely, according to sources speaking with Kotaku. The company has not publicly commented on the report. Project Sirius, first announced in 2022, has been in development since then and experienced a reboot in 2023 that included an earlier round of layoffs. A roadmap update released in late 2025 indicated that about 50 developers were working on the game at that time. The latest staff reduction brings the total number of developers lower than that figure. CDPR previously attempted a multiplayer version of GWENT, which is no longer being developed, and scrapped a planned multiplayer component for Cyberpunk 2077 after the single‑player launch in 2020. Questions remain about how a cooperative Witcher experience would compare to multiplayer titles set in other franchises. The company has not disclosed whether the staff changes will impact the projected release schedule.
