Sherline Tools, a U.S.-based producer of precision lathes, mills, micro-machining accessories and small CNC machines, has confirmed it will cease manufacturing operations by the end of the year. The company, acquired in 2017, cited shifting market conditions, pandemic-related disruptions, rising production costs and evolving consumer purchasing habits as factors that made sustaining domestic manufacturing unsustainable. While winding down production, Sherline plans to fulfill existing orders and sell remaining inventory, equipment and parts through October [2026], with some product lines ending sooner than others. The company will maintain an online presence to address warranty obligations and continue offering replacement parts as stock permits. It also pledged to preserve its technical archives and support resources for customers. Employees are being transitioned out of the business, and equipment is being retired from service. A company owner indicated the final operational date will not extend beyond the close of the calendar year.
