Apple's upcoming iPad mini 8 will be powered by the A20 Pro chip, according to source code examined by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris. The code also reveals a front-facing camera positioned in landscape orientation, making it the final iPad model to adopt that configuration.
Images extracted from Apple's code show a front panel with a narrow cutout at the top edge of the display glass, consistent with a speaker grille design used on recent iPhone models. Physical controls including volume and power buttons remain located along the top edge of the device.
The leak corroborates earlier reports from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who had previously indicated the next iPad mini would incorporate water resistance and a vibration-based speaker system. Perris noted the presence of these code elements suggests an imminent product launch.
Additional rumors, including those from Gurman, suggest the device may feature a slightly larger screen and transition to an OLED display. No official release date has been confirmed, though industry observers anticipate an announcement before the end of October.
The same code repository also contained visual references to a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K and updated HomePod mini color options, though those items were not the focus of the current report.
