Strategy is asking shareholders to approve a change that would make each calendar day a dividend record date for four of its preferred stocks, including STRC, without altering the dividend rates or total payout amounts. The board approved the amendment on Thursday, and a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday confirmed the move. Shareholders will vote on the proposal during a virtual special meeting scheduled for Oct. 28. If the vote passes, every day would become a record date, with the corresponding dividend paid on the next business day. STRC would be the first to transition, with its initial daily dividend expected on Nov. 2. The other three preferred stocks — STRF, STRK and STRD — would follow in January, with their first payments under the daily schedule due on Jan. 4. The amendments would become effective after Strategy files updated certificates governing the preferred stocks with the state of Delaware. The proposal builds on a similar shift Strive implemented earlier this year, when it moved its SATA preferred stock to daily dividends, becoming the first public company to adopt the model. Strive announced in May that SATA would begin paying dividends every business day on June 16 at a 13% annual rate and that it had eliminated its outstanding debt in the first quarter. Unlike Strive’s business‑day schedule, Strategy’s plan would treat every calendar day as a record date, with dividends payable on the following business day. According to BitcoinTreasuries.NET, Strive holds 26,355 Bitcoin, whereas Strategy holds 846,000 BTC. Strategy’s chief executive, Phong Le, discussed the company’s leverage exposure on Natalie Brunell’s Coin Stories podcast, noting that unexpected leverage in the STRC market contributed to a sharp price decline in June. The stock fell to an intraday low of $71.25 on June 26, well below its $100 stated amount, before recovering to about $98.41. Le said the company did not anticipate the volume of borrowed capital used to purchase STRC, which created pressure on investors when Bitcoin’s price dropped. To mitigate future unwind risks, Strategy is maintaining a strong US dollar reserve and has adopted a policy to repurchase STRC when it trades below its $100 stated amount. The security currently carries a 12% variable annual dividend rate.
