Voters in Nebraska will hear from the two major party candidates seeking to replace retiring Republican Rep. Don Bacon during a debate Wednesday evening.
The debate is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and will be streamed live by Nebraska Public Media. Bacon, who has served five terms in the House, announced he would not seek reelection after representing the district for more than a decade.
Democrat Denise Powell and Republican Brinker Harding are competing for the open seat in Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District, which includes Omaha and surrounding areas. The Cook Political Report recently shifted its rating of the race from Lean Democratic to Likely Democratic, reflecting changing expectations about the contest.
The candidates are set to discuss key issues facing the district as voters prepare to cast ballots in the upcoming midterm elections.
