Nintendo has announced that 007 First Light, the latest James Bond video game developed by IO Interactive, will launch on the Switch 2 on March 18 2027. The announcement came after the title experienced multiple postponements, including a delay from its original May 2026 release on other platforms. The Switch 2 version will be priced at $69.99 for the standard edition, with preorder customers receiving a GoldenEye-themed suit and access to four Tacsim mission skins: Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, Silent Anchor, and Gentleman Operator. A special Amazon-exclusive Specialist Edition will include an additional Classic Tuxedo skin and will be distributed on a physical game-key card.
IO Interactive stated that the additional development time will be used to optimize performance and ensure the game meets quality expectations at launch. The title is part of 2026's Game of the Year discussions, reflecting its reception as a reimagined origin story for Bond that blends globe-trotting action with tutorial elements such as an action montage and a bow tie minigame. The game follows Bond through his 00 training and first major missions, offering players a modern take on the franchise.
The Switch 2 release coincides with broader industry anticipation for Nintendo's next-generation console, which has faced supply constraints and delayed third-party titles since its unveiling. While the company has not indicated further postponements, the March 2027 date remains subject to change based on ongoing development needs.
