Ubisoft announced plans to shut down its Finland-based Trials developer RedLynx as part of a broader restructuring effort, while also reducing staff at its Singapore studio by 72 employees. The proposal, which would affect 52 RedLynx workers, comes as the company seeks to streamline operations after several recent studio changes. Finnish labor law requires formal consultation before major restructuring, delaying an official announcement despite the likelihood of closure. RedLynx, founded in 2000 and acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, gained prominence with the Trials series, particularly Trials HD, which became a breakout title on Xbox Arcade. The studio's last major release, Trials Rising, launched in 2019, followed by mobile work on Gwen's Getaway and assistance with Stadia ports for other titles. A prior restructuring in 2023 had already reduced RedLynx's staff by 60 employees. Meanwhile, Ubisoft Singapore, which contributed to Assassin's Creed titles and led development on Skull and Bones, faces a potential 20% workforce reduction. The company stated that 70 roles would be impacted to align with future production needs, emphasizing its commitment to supporting affected employees. Additional changes include the upcoming shutdown of Rainbow Six Mobile in January 2027 and a rebranding of Creative House 2 to Massive Entertainment, though the latter studio will continue operations within the restructured framework. Ubisoft's global studios, including those in Montreal, Paris, Stockholm, and Toronto, remain focused on Tom Clancy franchises under the Creative Houses model.
