Weekly decentralized exchange trading of tokenized equities rose 55-fold from January to October, reaching $2.54 billion in the week ending October 5, according to research shared with crypto.news by DWF Labs. The figure remained below the August peak of $7.26 billion, which was driven largely by activity on Robinhood Chain. Overall market value of tokenized equities climbed to $3.8 billion, up from $654 million at the start of the year, representing a 483% increase. Transfer volume between blockchain addresses grew from $420 million to $17.5 billion over the same period, a 41.8-fold rise. Weekly DEX trading as a share of market value increased from 0.07 to 0.67, while transfer turnover rose from 0.64 to 4.6 times market value. Ondo Finance held the largest issuer position with $1 billion in tokenized equities, followed by xStocks at $954 million and Binance’s bStocks at $905 million. These three issuers accounted for 75% of the market. BNB Chain captured 32% of tokenized equity value by October, up from 9% in January, while Ethereum’s share declined from 50% to 22% and Avalanche reached 9%. Solana dominated early DEX volume, handling 99.8% of January trading, but its share fell to 31% by October, overtaken by Robinhood Chain (26%), BNB Chain (25%), and Base (18%). DeFi deposits of tokenized equities reached $313 million by October 15, up from $15.5 million in January, representing roughly 8% of total market value. The International Monetary Fund noted in its October Global Financial Stability Report that tokenized stock volatility was about 1.5 times that of traditional equities, with over half of trading occurring outside regular U.S. market hours and 80% of trades involving less than one share. Researchers cautioned that the market remains early-stage, limiting the generalizability of current patterns.
