Aoashi Season 2 anime announced a new visual and the artists for its theme songs on June 26. 10-FEET will perform the opening theme for the first twelve episodes, while Ai Higuchi will perform the ending theme. The titles of the songs have not been disclosed.
The staff will present a behind-the-scenes panel at Anime Expo on July 3, where preview footage of the second season will be shown.
Kazuki Yokoyama assumes direction of the series, replacing Akira Satō. Asami Taguchi and Junko Yamanaka join the character design team alongside Manabu Nakatake; previous designers Asuka Yamaguchi, Saki Hasegawa, and Toshie Kawamura are no longer credited. The rest of the principal staff, including script supervisor Masahiro Yokotani, sound director Shōji Hata, and composer Masaru Yokoyama, return. TMS Entertainment will produce the second season, taking over from Production I.G.
The story follows third-year middle school student Ashito Aoi in Ehime prefecture, who hides his soccer talent before a setback leads to an invitation from Tatsuya Fukuya, a veteran of the J-Club team Tokyo City Esperion. The first season premiered in April 2022 and was streamed by Crunchyroll.
The manga, launched in January 2015, concluded with its 40th volume in August 2025 and has circulated over 15 million copies. It won the Best General Manga award at the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards. An English omnibus edition of the first three volumes was released on June 9.
