The Lego PlayStation set arrives in stores on Oct.
The Lego PlayStation set arrives in stores on Oct. 1, offering a 1,911-piece recreation of the original PlayStation console and controller. Priced at $179.99, the set includes a spring-loaded lid that opens to reveal two dioramas depicting early PlayStation moments, along with a detailed Lego version of the classic "PS" logo and miniature scenes inspired by 1997's Gran Turismo and 1999's Ape Escape.
The build measures over 2.5 inches high, 10.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep. It is priced at £139.99, €159.99 or $179.99 and carries an age recommendation of 18+.
Lego's PlayStation joins earlier retro console collaborations, including sets based on the Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis. The PlayStation version contains fewer pieces than the Atari 2600 (2,532) and Nintendo Entertainment System (2,646) sets, but more than the Sega Genesis offering (480).
The set will be available directly from Lego.com beginning Oct. 1 for Lego Insiders and Oct. 4 for general purchase. It features a functional "Open" button on the front-right corner of the console model, which triggers the lid mechanism to expose the included dioramas.
