Amazon Mechanical Turk said it will cease operations on September 30.

MTurk is a crowdsourcing marketplace that lets businesses and individuals outsource tasks to a distributed workforce via the internet, enabling microtasks such as data validation, content moderation, and survey participation.

The service, launched in 2005, has allowed companies to break down large projects into smaller, internet‑based tasks that can be completed by workers around the world. Amazon indicated that the shutdown will end the platform for its existing users after the specified date.

The closure ends a long‑standing online labor platform and will require customers and workers to seek alternative crowdsourcing solutions.
