Cato found substantial similarity between this activity and Atomic macOS Stealer (AMOS), an infostealer previously spread through fake software downloads and malicious advertising. While Cato has not officially labeled the new malware as AMOS, it said the staging process and payload construction share fingerprints with that campaign. The attackers also used an iframe to pull the malicious content from their own infrastructure, checking the visitor’s operating system and referral path to serve harmless pages to users who do not match the intended profile. The decoy site offered both macOS and Linux download buttons, though observations indicated the malware chain was delivered only to Mac users.

Cato also discovered a related campaign that masqueraded as Anthropic’s Claude Code, sharing the same infrastructure. The ClickFix technique, which relies on convincing victims to execute malicious commands themselves, is increasingly used to bypass traditional attachment‑based defenses.
