Microsoft announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will be added to its Play Anywhere program, allowing digital purchases on Xbox to be played on PC via the Xbox app and vice versa. The company first introduced the Play Anywhere initiative in 2017, aiming to let users access Xbox Store purchases across both platforms. While third-party support has grown slowly, Microsoft noted that the number of Play Anywhere titles released this year has been significant. The addition of Cyberpunk 2077 follows the launch of Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2 and precedes a scheduled patch that will introduce new content tied to the series, including a mystery quest for the character V and a perk enabling dual-wielding pistols. The update will roll out next week. The move provides players who purchased the game digitally on either platform with a complimentary copy on the other platform. KitGuru reported that the timing aligns with the series' release and the upcoming patch.
