A developer has released an open-source MSI Afterburner plugin that integrates 28 individual WireView Pro II sensor readings into the graphics card monitoring overlay, offering users a consolidated view of power delivery metrics without needing separate software.

The plugin, created by Reddit user VolterMort, connects directly to Thermal Grizzly's WireView Pro II hardware via USB, bypassing the need for Thermal Grizzly's proprietary application. It exposes detailed measurements including total connector power consumption, current draw, and average voltage across the 16-pin power interface, as well as per-pin voltage, current, and power data for all six 12V connections. Additional tracked parameters include internal and external temperature readings, fan duty cycle, cable power rating, and connection status.

This development arrives amid ongoing reports of melting issues with the 16-pin 12V-2x6 power connectors used in NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series GPUs. Despite the revised connector standard intended to resolve problems with the original 12VHPWR design that affected RTX 4090 cards, melting incidents continue to be documented across multiple manufacturers' products. The issue has also extended beyond NVIDIA, with recent cases reported on ASRock and Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT models featuring similar power connectors.

Thermal Grizzly designed the WireView Pro II specifically to help users identify electrical irregularities, particularly uneven current distribution across power pins that could contribute to connector failures. The new plugin enhances accessibility to these monitoring capabilities during gaming sessions and stress testing by polling the hardware approximately once per second. It includes a Pause/Resume USB functionality that allows seamless switching between the plugin and Thermal Grizzly's official software without restarting MSI Afterburner.

The plugin operates strictly as a monitoring tool; it does not provide automatic protection against connector melting, nor does it adjust GPU power limits or modify WireView's safety thresholds. Thermal protection remains handled independently by the WireView Pro II hardware itself. Testing has confirmed functionality on Windows 11 Pro with MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 2 and a WireView Pro II Black Reversed running firmware v05, though compatibility with other configurations has not been verified.

Available under the MIT license, the plugin's source code and compiled DLL are hosted on GitHub. Installation requires placing the DLL file in MSI Afterburner's monitoring plugins directory and enabling desired sensors through the application's Monitoring settings interface. The release was first reported in the r/nvidia community forum.
