A glacial collapse triggered landslides and flash floods in Nepal and Tibet on Wednesday, killing at least 165 people and leaving nearly 1,500 missing.

The events affected the Nuwakot district of Nepal and the Tibet autonomous region, where mud and water swept away homes, roads and bridges.

Rescue teams used an earthmover to carry a victim along the Trishuli River in Nuwakot on August 26, 2026. Officials said the death toll could rise as search teams continued looking for survivors.

Search operations continued into Thursday as authorities sought to locate remaining survivors.
