The Department of Defense published its Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report on Sexual Assault in the Military on August 21, 2026, covering October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

The report fulfills a statutory requirement under Section 1631 of the Ike Skelton National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011, as amended, and includes data from the 2025 Workplace Experiences Survey.

The estimated prevalence rate of unwanted sexual contact among active‑duty service members fell from 1.3% in FY 2023 to 1.0% in FY 2025 for men and from 6.8% to 4.3% for women. The number of individuals reporting unwanted sexual contact decreased from 29,061 in FY 2023 to 20,492 in FY 2025, including 10,632 men and 9,860 women. The prevalence of sexual harassment also declined, from 5.8% to 4.4% among men and from 24.7% to 17.5% among women. Service members submitted 33% of sexual assault reports—6,843 reports out of 20,492 affected individuals—in FY 2025, up from 25% in FY 2023. The department recorded 7,998 total sexual assault reports involving service members, of which 5,022 were unrestricted and 2,976 were restricted. Disciplinary action was taken in 2,220 cases where evidence supported investigation.

The Department of Defense said it will continue to address harmful behaviors, provide victim assistance, and improve command climates to support reporting and accountability.
