A new report indicates that HBO is exploring a Poison Ivy series with Lauren LeFranc, the showrunner of The Penguin, attached as an executive producer. LeFranc, who previously worked on The Penguin, is in discussions to produce the series, though no writers have been hired yet. The project remains in early development and has not been confirmed by HBO.

The proposed series would exist independently of Matt Reeves' The Batman film universe and its spinoff show The Penguin, which are collectively referred to as the "Batman Epic Crime Saga." This distinction separates the Poison Ivy project from other DC-related productions such as Clayface and upcoming titles tied to Superman and Lanterns.

Deadline reported that the series is not currently linked to the broader DC Universe and may be set in a separate continuity. The report also noted that the project was previously paused due to the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. If greenlit, the series would air on HBO, following the same platform as The Penguin.

The character Poison Ivy, known as Dr. Pamela Isley in the comics, is an ecoterrorist with the ability to control plant life. Her most prominent adaptations have included Uma Thurman's portrayal in the 1997 film Batman & Robin and Lake Bell's voice work in the animated series Harley Quinn.

The Batman franchise has seen several villains take center stage in recent years without direct involvement from Batman himself. The upcoming sequel to The Batman, titled The Batman Part 2, recently paused production after director Matt Reeves stepped away due to a personal matter. Actor Paul Dano, who portrays The Riddler, has expressed interest in returning for a potential sequel, though no official plans have been announced.

Steven Soderbergh has been brought in to assist with completing The Batman Part 2, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 18, 2028. The film's production status remains subject to change based on Reeves' availability.
