SonicFox, a top-tier fighting game competitor, has ended their agreement with NexCon, a November 14-15 event in Norman, Oklahoma, after the organizers used artificial intelligence to create a promotional poster featuring the player's furry avatar without permission. A fan shared the poster on Twitter/X on October 20, highlighting its AI-generated style that replicated SonicFox's character and those of other invited guests. The player stated, “Not sure who’s in charge of Nexcon, but I absolutely refuse to have my likeness be AI-generated, and my interest in attending as a special guest has dropped to 0. Incredibly disrespectful,” and later confirmed the cancellation in a brief announcement. Community members echoed concerns, noting that feeding fan-created artwork into AI systems without consent undermines artists' contributions. All references to SonicFox have since been removed from the convention's website. In related fighting game developments, new gameplay footage for Tekken 8 was unveiled at Evo France, and a preview of Yujiro Hanma's in-game model was released ahead of its early next year launch.
