Spike Chunsoft announced on Wednesday that the Switch 2 version of Danganronpa 2x2 will be distributed via a game‑key card rather than a full game cartridge.

The company said the change does not affect the game’s release schedule or pre‑orders for any other platform or title.

Pre‑orders for the Danganronpa 2x2 Psycho Tropical Vacation Package through the Spike Chunsoft Official Store US have been cancelled, and customers must submit a new pre‑order for the game‑key card version; those who pre‑ordered through other channels will receive the game‑key card version.

The game is slated for early 2027 on Switch 2, Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, delayed from its original 2026 target.

The release includes a new alternate scenario called “Slayhem” that runs about 35 hours, roughly five hours longer than the original and offers 20% more content, with visual improvements applied to the base game.

The Psycho Tropical Vacation Package also contains a reversible hat, Kidrobot figures, a soundtrack and a clamshell‑style outer box.

In November, Spike Chunsoft said Kinuta Ōshiro will voice Monomi in place of the late Takako Sasuga, and in October it announced Wasabi Mizuta will voice Monokuma in place of the late TARAKO.

The decision follows careful consideration and does not impact other games or platforms.

Customers need to re‑preorder to receive the game‑key card format.
