Stripe announced it has acquired Clerky, an online legal services platform that assists startups and their attorneys with routine legal paperwork. Clerky said the acquisition will allow it to continue operating with its existing team and focus on providing legal documents to high‑growth startups. The company noted that its platform serves 23% of Silicon Valley seed and pre‑seed financing rounds and that startups using Clerky have raised more than $140 billion in venture capital. Clerky also reported a six‑fold increase in startup formation activity compared with its historical average. Stripe, which has built a payments infrastructure used by startups for more than 15 years, said the acquisition aligns with its mission to support the startup ecosystem. Both companies indicated that Clerky will maintain its service offerings and that the deal will provide additional resources for product development. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Stripe said the acquisition will enable further investment in tools for startups.
