Microsoft has outlined the hourly rates it plans to charge for Xbox Cloud Gaming access for users who do not hold a Game Pass subscription. The information was disclosed to Xbox Insiders, a free program that allows anyone to sign up for early testing.
The rates are presented as introductory launch pricing and are subject to change. They are being marketed as cloud playtime packages. Available options include a 10‑hour package priced at $4, a 25‑hour package priced at $8, and a 50‑hour package priced at $12. Purchasers of these packages will receive ad‑free streaming, reduced wait times, and higher‑quality video output. The packages are slated to roll out to a broader audience beginning in November.
In addition, an ad‑supported version of the service will remain available to Insiders who do not subscribe to Game Pass.
For current Game Pass members, Microsoft announced upcoming adjustments to cloud gaming usage limits. Starting in November, each tier will include a set number of monthly hours: Ultimate subscribers receive 15 hours, Premium subscribers receive 10 hours, and Essential subscribers receive 5 hours. After the included hours are exhausted, users may purchase additional time. Microsoft described the shift as a “meaningful change” and estimated that it will affect roughly 4 % of subscribers, though the methodology behind that projection was not disclosed.
Separately, Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma has indicated that the company is exploring a major overhaul of Game Pass that would let users customize their subscription by selecting specific features they wish to include or exclude.
